1948: On August 21st, The Webb family moved from Calcutta to Bombay.
After three days on August 24th, The Webb family boarded on the ship ‘Ranchi’ from Bombay, India to Surrey, England.

1957: Harry entered a local talent concert at the Capital Theatre, Winchmore Hill. Harry sung Frankie Laine’s hit “A Woman In Love”, and came second.

1958: August 9th, Cliff Richard started a four week residency at Butlins Holiday Camp in Clacton-On-Sea, Essex, as Cliff Richard & The Drifters.
Cliff Richard signed a recording contract with Columbia Records.
Cliff first single “Schoolboy Crush” / “Move It” (DB 4178) released.

1959: Cliff Richard appears on two ‘Funny Side Up’ shows to promote his new single “Living Doll”, Cliff sings “Living Doll”, “Apron Strings” and “Down The Line”.

1960: Cliff Richard appear on ‘Saturday Club’ and sings “Gee Whiz It’s You”, “You're Just The One To Do It”, “What’d I Say”, “Where Is My Heart” and “Please Don’t Tease”.
“Please Don’t Tease” still at No.1 in the British charts and later deposed by The Shadows’ “Apache”.
“Please Don’t Tease” is at No.2 in NME Best Selling Sheet Music charts.

1961: Cliff Richard appears on ‘Parade Of The Pops” and sings “All I Do Is Dream Of You”, “Without You” and “A Girl Like You”.
August 6th, Cliff Richard attends the marriage of his 18 years old sister Donella to Paul Stevens at Waltham Abbey in Essex. Norrie Paramor & The Shadows are guests at the wedding.

Cliff buys a record shop for his sister Donella and her husband Paul Stevens.
Cliff Richard and The Shadows on tour at Stockholm, Cliff sings “Move It”, “Please Don’t Tease”, “Living Doll”, “My Blue Heaven”, “A Girl Like You” and “What’d I Say”.
Cliff is presented with ‘Silver Disc’ for “Living Doll” in Norway.

1962: Cliff recorded “It’s Wonderful To Be Young” especially for the American market.
The film “The Young Ones” will release in U.S.A. and re-titled as “It’s Wonderful To Be Young”.
Cliff’s 18th single “It’ll Be Me” / “Since I Lost You” (DB 4886) is released.
On BBC 1 ‘Billy Cotton Show’ Cliff sings “It’ll Be Me”.
“The Young Ones” is at the No.1 in Australia.
“Do You Wanna Dance” is at No.1 in Norway and in top ten in Holland and Thailand.
“I’m Looking Out The Window” is at No.9 in Norway.

1963: August 2nd, Cliff Richard wins his first-ever American poll honour when he is voted 'Most Promising Singer' in a nation-wide ballot by the leading US teenage magazine 16.                                                                         

Cliff’s 22nd single “It’s All In The Game” / “Your Eyes Tell On You” (DB 7089) is released.
“Lucky Lips” enters Billboard’s Hot 100 charts in the U.S.A.
Cliff Richard wins his first-ever American poll honour, he is voted ‘Most Promising Singer’ by US teenage magazine 16.
“Lucky Lips” tops the chart in Holland, Hong Kong, Israel, Norway, South Africa and Sweden.
In America Billboard’s chart “Lucky Lips” has climbed 6 places this week to the No. 89 spot in the Top 100.
Cliff Richard received his third ‘Gold Disc’ for a million sales of “The Next Time” / “Bachelor Boy” from recording manager Norrie Paramor during the Tele-recording of ABC TV's 100th ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’.
Saturday 10th August, on 100th edition of ATV’s ‘Thanks Your Lucky Stars’, Cliff sings “It’s All In The Game”, “Your Eyes Tell On You”, other artists are The Shadows, The Searchers, Alma Cogan, Brian Poole and The Tremeloes and Billy J. Kramer.
August 23rd “Lucky Lips” climbs to No. 69 in the Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the USA.
NME feature ‘Tribute to Cliff Richard and The Shadows’ fifth anniversary in show business, Cliff answer questions about his love life and career.
Cliff Tele-records a guest appearance for the ATV Midlands children’s ‘Tingha and Tucker’, he is seen in non singing role as Uncle Cliff on the Blackpool Beach.

1964: Cliff Richard pulls off a glorious hat-trick with his third film “Wonderful Life”.
E.P. “Wonderful Life No. 1” (SEG 8338 Mono) / (ESG 7902 Stereo) is released.
It is announced that Una Stubbs and Arthur Askey will appear with Cliff Richard on ‘Aladdin And His Wonderful Lamp’ at the London Palladium later in the year.

1965: Cliff’s new single “The Time In Between” / “Look Before You Love” (DB 7660) released.
Saturday 14th August, on ABC Lucky Stars are Cliff Richard and The Shadows, The Kinks, Georgie Fame and Blue Flames, Julie Rogers, Danny Williams, Eddie Calvert and The Strollers.
Cliff’s album “When In Rome” (SX 1762 MONO) is released.
Cliff Richard and The Shadows begin their European Tour.

1966: Cliff Richard’s leading lady in “Finders Keepers”, Viviane Ventura is engaged to Frank Dunggan.
Cliff reveals that it is still one of his ambitions to film ‘Wuthering Heights’.
Cliff Richard holidays in Portugal after finishing filming “Finders Keepers”.

1967: “The Day I Met Marie” is written by Hank B. Marvin and arranged by Mike Leander.
Cliff’s 39th single “The Day I Met Marie” / “Our Story Book” (DB 8245) released.
Cliff flies to Portugal for 3 weeks holiday.
Cliff’s former girl-friend Jackie Irving marries Adam Faith.
Cliff Richard returns from holiday in Portugal.

1968: Cliff and The Shadows celebrate their 10th anniversary in show business.
Tenth anniversary of Cliff Richard’s first official engagement in show business, a 20 day season at Butlins Holiday Camp, Clacton.
EMI plan to release new Cliff Richard and The Shadows LP “Established 58” in September.
Soundtrack “Two A Penny” with five bonus tracks (SX 6262 Mono) (SCX 6262 Stereo) is released.

1969: BBC announces plans for a T.V. series starring Cliff Richard, to begin early in 1970, co-starring Hank B. Marvin and Una Stubbs.
Cliff Richard holidays in Portugal.

1970: Cliff’s 51st single, “I Ain’t Got Time Anymore” / “Monday Comes To Soon” (DB 8708) released.
Cliff Richard special on BBC TV, Aretha Franklin, Hank Marvin and Una Stubbs are the guest on the show.

1971: BBC announces that the new Cliff series will start around Christmas.
“Flying Machine” becomes Cliff’s first-ever single not to make Top Thirty in British chart.
BBC 1 screened ‘Get Away with Cliff’, Cliff is joined by Olivia Newton John, Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch and John Farrar.

1972: “Living In Harmony” / “Empty Chairs” (DB 8917) released.
Cliff Richard makes guest appearance on Lulu’s show and sings “Reason To Believe” and “Living In Harmony”.

1973: Cliff announces that he will appear on the ‘Spiritual Re-emphasis’ concert at Wembley with Johnny Cash and Billy Graham.
It is revealed that Cliff is to play Bottom in a version of ‘A Mid Summer Night’s Dream’.
Cliff Richard appears at ‘Spree 73’ concert at Earl’s Court in London.

1974: It’s Cliff Richard (1974) series begins on BBC 1.
Ex-New Seeker, Lyn Paul, guests on Cliff’s ‘It’s Cliff Richard’ show on BBC T.V.
Cliff Richard appears in a special concert at the ‘New Gallery’, Regent Street, London for the Crusaders.

1975: It is announced that Cliff Richard flies to Moscow to record an album of Russian songs.

1976: Cliff flies to America to promote his new album “I’m Nearly Famous”.
“Devil Woman” enters ‘Cash Box’ and ‘Billboard’ charts in USA.
“Devil Woman” is a Cliff’s big hit in America, since “It’s All In The Game” in 1964.
Cliff Richard set out on a tour of Russia, starting with a night at the Hall Of The October Revolution in Leningrad.

1977: Cliff Richard holidays in Portugal.
The London news station LBC on ‘Newbeat’ and the BBC World Service, both interview Cliff.

1978: Cliff Richard visits South Africa, Australia and Hong Kong.

1979: On August 25th, after 11 years and 124 days Cliff tops the chart with “We Don’t Talk Anymore”, “Congratulations” was his last No. 1 hit in 1968.
Cliff launches his own gospel label Patch Records in association with EMI.
Cliff produced an album by Garth Hewitt, which is launched at the Greenbelt Festival.
Cliff appears at the ‘Greenbelt Christian Music Festival’, Cliff sings for 90 minutes.
BBC Radio 1 broadcast a special programme on Greenbelt.

1980: Cliff appears in Germany with his new group the Sky Band, Cliff sings “The Rock That Doesn’t Roll”, “The Twelfth Of Never”, “The Minute You’re Gone”, Sci-Fi”, “Devil Woman” and “Green Light”.
“Dreamin’”/ “Dynamite” (EMI 5095) is released.
The B-side “Dynamite” is a new version of an old Cliff’s hit in 1959.
Cliff’s latest album “I’m No Hero” (EMA 796) is released.
“I’m No Hero”, album peak at No.4 in the U.K. Albums chart.

1981: “Wired For Sound” / “Hold On” (EMI 5221) is released.
Cliff Richard appeared at Greenbelt Festival.

1982: “Now You See Me…Now You Don’t” (EMC 3415) album is released.
“Now You See Me…Now You Don’t” album peak at No.4 in the U.K. Albums chart.

1983: “Never Say Die (Give A Little Bit More)” / “Lucille” (EMI 5415) is released.
Cliff made an appearance at Greenbelt Christian Festival.

1985: Cliff Richard flies to Portugal for holiday.

1986: Cliff’s “I’m No Hero” album, re-issue on FAME label with new cover (FA 413148) is released.

1987: “Some People” / “One Time Lover Man” / “Reunion Of The Heart” (EM 18 / 12EM 18) are released.

1988: Cliff Richard appeared at Greenbelt Festival.

1989: Cliff’s 101st single “I Just Don’t Have The Heart” / “Wide Open Space” / “I Just Don’t Have The Heart” (Instrumental) (EM 101 / 12EM 101/ CDEM 101) are released.

1990: Cliff’s new single “Silhouettes” / “The Winner” / “All The Time You Need” (EM 152 / 12EM 152 / CDEM 152) are released.

1993: Cliff Richard performed at the 20th Anniversary of Greenbelt Festival.

2002: EMI released Cliff Richard’s “The Singles Collection” CD 5375512 EMI (Released 12-8-2002)
Singles Box-Set of 6 CDs, includes all 127 of Cliff's singles from “Move It” to “Let Me Be The One”.
“Vida Nova”, ‘The Wine Of The Year’, Sir Cliff Richard has chalked up the wine release of the year, with the success of debut vintage of his Portuguese wine.

2003: Sir Cliff’s two compilation CDs “My Songs By Cliff Richard” CD 5909652 EMI (Released 18-8-2003) & “Cliff Richard Sings The Standards” CD 5910592 EMI (Released 18-8-2003) are released.
On 20 August Cliff was in Albufeira, Portugal, for a special ceremony where a street near his first home in the town was re-named Rua Sir Cliff Richard.
“Imagine” backing vocals by Cliff Richard for Cilla Black will be releasing on Cilla Black’s 'Beginnings’ album in September.
Sir Cliff and Helmut Lotti two duets songs, “Mary's Boy Child” will appear on Cliff's new album “Cliff At Christmas”, while “Danny Boy” will feature on Helmut's forthcoming album.

2004: Sir Cliff Richard gave a free open-air concert on the beach in Albufeira, Portugal, he sings his hits “On The Beach”, “Move It”, “Living Doll”, “The Young Ones”, “Summer Holiday”, “Congratulations” and some new songs from his new studio album releasing in November, “Something’s Goin’ On”, “I Cannot Give You My Love” and “Sometimes Love”.
The video /DVD of ‘Summer Nights’ concerts series will be releasing in October titled “Castles In The Air”.

2005: On August 22, EMI released four digitally re-mastered Cliff Richard’s films soundtrack albums with bonus tracks, “The Young Ones”, “Wonderful Life”, “Finders Keepers” and “Take Me High”.

2007: On August 31, Cliff attended the Thanksgiving Service for Diana, Princess of Wales, at the Guards' Chapel.

2008: To mark Cliff Richard's 50th anniversary this year, EMI will release an 8-CD box set entitled 'And They Said It Wouldn't Last (My 50 Years In Music)' on 15 September.
